The proposed guided tour of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. A tour of the sacred places, between art and millenary secrets with our specialized guide. You can customize the tour with the climb to the dome of St. Peter’s or the walk to Castel Sant’Angelo.
The Vatican Museums were inaugurated in the sixteenth century and contain a unique collection of ancient and modern art.
Here, various works are collected that span ancient and contemporary times: sarcophagi and mosaics share the space with masterpieces by great masters such as Giotto, Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael up to Dalì, Canova and Matisse. In the midst of so much beauty, the presence of a fragment of lunar rock donated to Vatican citizens by former American president Nixon continues to amaze.
The tour of the Vatican Museums ends with the entrance to the Sistine Chapel where it is possible to admire the famous frescoes by Michelangelo that cover the vault and the back wall with the Last Judgment, in addition to the marvelous walls decorated by some of the greatest Italian artists of the second half of the fifteenth century (Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino, Pinturicchio, Domenico Ghirlandaio and others).
Between the Baldacchino and Bernini’s Colonnade that frames the Dome designed by Michelangelo, we will cross the great Square of St. Peter’s admiring the magnificence of the Apostolic Palace with the window where the Pope looks out every Sunday for the Angelus.
